This module enables learners to understand cyber risk as a governance and assurance issue and to produce board-level cyber governance advice. It remains a governance module rather than technical cyber security practitioner training.
Assessment: Cyber governance case study and board briefing note focused on accountability, risk appetite, assurance and resilience.
Evidence: Critique of a cyber risk scenario and a concise board-level briefing note with governance recommendations.
Learning outcomes and assessment criteria for CGB501
- LO1: Analyse cyber risk from a governance perspective.
1.1 Analyse organisational cyber risk in a case scenario. 1.2 Explain the governance implications of cyber incidents. 1.3 Identify cyber assurance requirements for boards.
- LO2: Evaluate cyber risk reporting and assurance.
2.1 Evaluate a cyber risk report for decision usefulness. 2.2 Identify gaps in assurance and accountability. 2.3 Recommend improvements to board-level cyber reporting.
- LO3: Produce board-level cyber governance advice.
3.1 Develop a cyber governance action note for a board audience. 3.2 Justify actions in relation to organisational risk, accountability and resilience.
